Who we are

Lake Lanier Dock Builders is an independent website that explains what docks cost on Lanier and how the Corps permit rules work, and connects owners with one local dock builder. We don't build, repair or move docks, and we aren't connected to the Corps of Engineers or the Lake Lanier Association.

What happens to your request

  1. You send your request (and your calculator estimate, if you used it).
  2. We pass it to one local dock builder who works your part of the lake.
  3. The builder contacts you, usually within one business day, looks at your dock and permit, and gives you a firm quote.

Your request goes to one builder only, and we never sell your details.

The builder may pay us for referrals. You pay us nothing, and we don't rank builders or call anyone the best.

About our prices and rules

Our prices are planning estimates from national guides, scaled to Lanier dock sizes, checked November 2026. They aren't quotes. Our rule summaries come from the 2004 Shoreline Management Plan; your own permit and your ranger have the final word.

Before you hire any boat dock dock builder

Whether the dock builder came from us or from anywhere else, these six checks protect you:

  1. Get the price in writing, with what's included: materials, labour, site prep, permit and cleanup.
  2. Ask whether the dock builder pulls the permit, and who books the inspections.
  3. Check their licence or registration where your state or city requires one, and ask for proof of liability insurance.
  4. Ask for two or three recent jobs nearby that you can drive past or call about.
  5. Agree on the payment schedule before work starts. A modest deposit is normal; paying most of it up front is a warning sign.
  6. Ask what the warranty covers (workmanship and materials) and for how long.
